Mary My Chau Maria Dinh Thi Vu Memorial Scholarship
Impact
Mary’s full name was as hilarious as she was. She excelled in everything she did & won the hearts of anyone lucky enough to know her. The daughter of Vietnamese refugees, she always knew the importance and privilege placed upon education, especially a higher education & was looking forward to college life after graduating high school. She would have been a first-generation college student, but the world lost her just a month shy of starting. This scholarship is created to honor Mary’s memory, by assisting a deserving first-generation college student with the hopes that they are able to pursue the educational goals that Mary was unable to attain herself. It’s also to serve as a gentle reminder that tomorrow is not promised and that education should never be viewed as a chore or obligation, but rather a privilege.
