Amber Jean Gallarde Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship honors the life of our beautiful sister, Amber, who lived each day with such intensity. Although she was one of eight children, she always made her presence known. Amber had a wild spirit that a normal life could not tame. Her passing is a daily reminder to help those who struggle with “invisible” illnesses and fight against social stigmas related to depression. In honor of Amber’s struggle, her little sister has educated hundreds of students on the awareness and prevention of suicide. As a result of this effort, lives have been saved and families are healing. We would like to award this scholarship to a student who has either demonstrated involvement in serving those who struggle with mental illness, majoring in a field that will result in a career in the mental health profession, and/or have overcome hardships related to mental illness.
