Christopher Gallarde Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship honors the life of a man, father, and friend who fell in love with the beauty of the ocean. Christopher Gallarde was lifelong fisherman. As a young student he would often draw fishing boats while the teacher was giving a lesson. As a father of eight children, the ocean provided for his family for many years. He often said his most precious moments of life were being with his children and fishing. Even to his last days, Chris would go to his beloved Waianae Boat Harbor to sit on the same wall and watch the boats come in with the days catch. We hope to award this scholarship to a student that demonstrated involvement in volunteer efforts that foster cultural appreciation and environmental stewardship. Special consideration is given to those students who have participated in Mt. SACs AAPI or ASPIRE programs and/or students majoring in fields related to oceanic studies.
