Purkhiser Family Scholarship

This award was established in 1994 as a memorial to Earl Purkhiser for his many contributions to the educational and civic communities that he served during his 40 years as a Covina resident. Mr. Purkhiser was an instructor of Economics and Accounting at Mt. SAC from 1958 until his retirement in 1986. During his tenure, he served as President of both the Academic Senate and Faculty Association. He was honored as Educator of the Year at Mt. SAC in 1982. He also was the recipient of the Business Faculty Role Model Award in 1986 and the Outstanding Volunteer of the Year Award in 1989. Mr. Purkhiser tirelessly committed himself to improving the lives of others through his activism in education and community service.
