Borka Tomljenovic Memorial Scholarship

Borka Tomljenovic was a self-educated writer of successful Serbo-Croatian/English dictionaries and books of life and customs in former Yugoslavia starting with the early 1900s. She lived through World War II, socialization and later collapse of her country and was a refugee multiple times in her life. She immigrated to the United States in 1991 during civil war in Yugoslavia and became a naturalized citizen ten years later. This scholarship is for students who have faced either cultural, language, citizenship, or immigration barriers in education, to assist them to persist in education.
