Marie & J. Leland Mills Leadership Scholarship, part of The Osher Initiative for California Community College Students

This scholarship was established in 1969 and is awarded to students continuing their education at Mt. SAC who demonstrate interest and involvement in community and campus life. Mr. Mills, who passed away in 1996, retired from Alhambra High School as Associate Principal. Marie Mills graduated magna cum laude from Pomona College. She began her career in education in 1931 and joined Mt. SAC in 1946 as Dean of Women. She also became Director of Instruction in 1956, Associate Superintendent of Instruction in 1960, Vice President of Instruction in 1963, and Mt. SAC’s third Superintendent/President from 1969 until 1972.
