Los Hijos del Naranjo Scholarship

Los Hijos de! Naranjo scholarship is established by Jose Rivera, siblings, and cousins and his 23 cousins. This award honors the difficult journey that Jose, Gloria, Rosalina, Carlos, Trini, Lagos, and their spouses went through to forge a path towards success for their children, and grandchildren. Their story spans the states of Jalisco, Michoacan, Guerrero and the eventual journey to the US. Once here, they proudly worked in warehouses in the I 980 ’s in Los Angeles and in the fields of central California. Through it all they embodied incredible resilience, grit, and love for their family through their labor and the food they warmly placed on the table for their-kids. May we never forget what the first generation did so that the second, third, and beyond can thrive.
The recipient of this scholarship will embody the qualities our parents demonstrated and that have given us a path to great success
